 Newspaper & Magazine Articles Online

There’s a wealth of information about analog design and components, analog design tools, digital signal processing, and DSP development tools available to you in the trade publications. There are at least a dozen that you should browse regularly if you want to stay on top of relevant industry developments and new products. But even though they’re all free, subscribing to every one of them isn’t the solution to keeping current. There are too many pages to turn and too much time required.

To make your life a little easier, we’ve done some of the page turning for you. We regularly scan the leading trade publications (as well as their web sites) for relevant, timely, accurate and credible industry, technology, and design articles, and then index them on ANALOGandDSP. (We’ve opted not to index product articles that are devoted exclusively to a single product because you’ll find information about new DSPs, development tools, etc. elsewhere on this site.)

Can't find an article from an industry publication like Electronic Engineering Times or EDN indexed on this site? Search them here without leaving ANALOGandDSP.

To find the newspaper or magazine articles that deal with a particular topic, select the topic you're interested in, check off Previous Months or Previous Year, and hit GO.

How Audio Processing Algorithms Help Improve Sound from Small Speakers  (Audio DesignLine)

August 25, 2010 -- Modern smartphones are slick and powerful machines. Their size varies between different models but generally speaking, state of the art devices pack lots of features into an approximately 110 x 60 x 15 mm package.

Once the display and the circuit boards are taken into consideration, not much room is left for the speakers. Now, think about a home theater and how much room a subwoofer takes. Most of you may think that these are two completely different applications and should not be even compared. This is true to a certain extent. In fact, while they are indeed wildly different applications, the content running on them is becoming more similar every day. Faster standards for mobile communications (3G, 3.5G, 4G) and their supporting networks have enabled audio and video download and playback on handsets. Customers expect that higher bandwidth comes with higher audio and video quality. . . . read more

Dual Core Architectures in Automotive SoCs  (Automotive DesignLine)

August 23, 2010 -- Automotive SoCs have traditionally been single core, since not much computational work or high end applications were targeted on them. Automotives were simpler, so were the applications and so were the SoCs. As more and more electronics made room in the automotives, the complexity of the SoCs kept on increasing. Now the focus is to have most of the automotive under electronic control. . . . read more

April 22, 2010 -- Digital-Signal processing is finding its way into everything. As such, it is difficult to do more than Scratch the surface of what is available in this constantly evolving marke. . . . read more
